The Academic Interventionist that represents Lowcountry Leadership Charter School is
responsible for the following:
Academic interventionists work with teachers and other faculty members to identify
children who may be at risk of falling behind in their academic studies. This may
involve monitoring students' performance in the classroom, reviewing their homework
assignments or assessing their average test scores. Taking the time to analyze each of
these areas carefully can help academic interventionists uncover what challenges a
student may be facing.
1. Create and teach interventions based on the learning needs of students needing tier
2 and 3 academic supports.
2. Monitor student learning on a daily basis. Use multiple data points to guide and
individualize instruction.
3. Consult with classroom teachers around data to identify students requiring tier 2
academic support.
4. Participate in professional learning communities, literacy and math training for staff,
and ongoing professional development opportunities.
5. Assist in the planning and implementation of building professional development.
6. Communicate with families on a regular basis.
7. Participate in professional development.
8. Demonstrate consistent progress on meeting the South Carolina Standards.
9. Participate on the MTSS team to develop student plans and evaluate progress.
