School Psychologist Position

Position Overview
The School Psychologist provides consultation, support, and direct assessment within the school environment while serving as a member of the school team to support the academic and behavioral needs of all students.
Reports to: Director of Special Services
Qualifications
- Required: Educator Certificate through the South Carolina Board of Education (School Psychologist II)
- Required: Educational Specialist's degree in school psychology
- Preferred: Experience as a School Psychologist in a public school setting
Performance Responsibilities
Psycho-Educational Evaluations
Conducts comprehensive psycho-educational evaluations of students referred for potential special education services:
- Provides information to parents and school staff regarding the referral/assessment process, special education services, and their rights
- Maintains current knowledge of all regulations (local, state, and federal) regarding psychological and special education services
- Administers, scores, analyzes, and interprets intellectual, academic, social/emotional/behavioral and other psychometric assessments
- Integrates all assessment data elements into a cohesive analysis for resolving referral questions and determining special education eligibility
- Communicates evaluation results, conclusions, and recommendations clearly through oral and written reports to parents, school staff, students, and service providers
- Monitors the referral, evaluation, and placement process to ensure compliance with due process requirements
Consultation and Intervention Support
Consults with teachers, school administration, and parents regarding the planning, implementation, and evaluation of interventions for students' learning and behavioral difficulties:
- Serves as a member of the school-level Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) team
- Conducts systematic observations and provides consultation on functional behavioral assessments
- Collaborates with school staff and parents in developing, implementing, and evaluating academic, behavioral, and social/emotional interventions
