Position: Director of Operations

Ashley River Classical Academy is hiring its founding staff members to provide support to its teachers, students, and families. Ashley River Classical Academy is a tuition-free, public, classical charter school. It is part of the nationwide Hillsdale College network of classical charter schools united by curriculum and purpose. Ashley River Classical Academy will initially open K-5 and grow to K-12 by adding one grade level each year. Ashley River Classical Academy is now accepting applications for the Director of Operations.

Each faculty member is a professional who is esteemed and supported by a faculty of colleagues striving for excellence. The faculty is entrusted with practical implementation of the mission of ARCA: Our mission is to train the minds and hearts of our students through a content-rich classical education in the liberal arts and sciences, with a focus on fostering moral character and civic virtue.

The Director of Operations is a member of the school leadership team who works closely with the Head of School to perform administrative and supervisory work in the non-academic operations of the school in support of the school’s mission.

Primary duties and responsibilities include:

• Ensuring that facilities are well-maintained for student and faculty use, including overseeing maintenance, custodial services, technology, and security
• Maintaining records and producing necessary reports for operational efficiency and to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local requirements
• Managing the school’s budget, record keeping process, and inventory of resources
• Overseeing operational programs, including transportation, food service program, before and aftercare, afterschool clubs and sports, and volunteer program
• Directly supervising office staff, including the school nurse, front desk, and registrar
• Overseeing the enrollment process for students
• Consistently demonstrating the school’s Virtues: Prudence, Justice, Temperance, Courage, Responsibility, Compassion, and Perseverance
• Assisting the Head of School with other responsibilities as needed

Qualities and characteristics of a successful Director of Operations:

• Bachelors or above in any subject area; Masters or PhD preferred
• Excellent technology skills
• Experience in planning and managing budgets and inventories
• Leadership: The ability to inspire others through both word and example
• Military experience preferred
