About The Pivot School: The Pivot School is a tuition-free public charter school dedicated to transforming education in Aiken, South Carolina. Pivot will open with 6th and 7th grade our first year and add a grade each year until 12th grade. Our mission is to provide a comprehensive, career-focused, and socially-emotionally supportive learning environment that empowers students to reach their full potential. We are currently seeking a visionary Founding Principal to lead our school in its inaugural year and beyond.

Position Overview: The Founding Principal will play a pivotal role in establishing and shaping the academic and cultural foundation of The Pivot School. This leader will be responsible for recruiting students, understanding and integrating into the Aiken community, and driving academic excellence. The ideal candidate will be a passionate educator who believes that all students can learn, uses data-driven strategies to achieve results, and is unafraid to think outside the box.

Key Responsibilities:

• Academic Leadership:
• Serve as the day-to-day academic leader of the school, setting and maintaining high standards for student achievement and instructional excellence.
• Develop and implement a rigorous, career-focused curriculum that aligns with The Pivot School’s mission and vision.
• Use data to inform instructional practices and drive student success, ensuring that all students meet or exceed academic benchmarks.
• Student Recruitment and Community Engagement:
• Lead student recruitment efforts to build a diverse and vibrant student body.
• Establish strong relationships with students, parents, and community members, understanding the unique needs and aspirations of the Aiken community.
• Promote The Pivot School’s mission and vision within the community and create partnerships that support student learning and development.
• Innovative Educational Practices:
• Foster a culture of creativity and innovation in teaching and learning.
• Encourage and support teachers in developing and implementing creative, student-centered instructional strategies.
• Stay current with educational research and trends, integrating best practices into the school’s programs and policies.
• Operational Management:
• Oversee daily school operations, including budget management, staff recruitment, and facility management.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant state and federal regulations and school policies.
• Work collaboratively with the Board of Directors to set and achieve strategic goals for the school.

Qualifications:

• Master's degree in Educational Leadership or a related field.
• Proven experience as a school principal or in a similar leadership role.
• Strong understanding of data-driven instruction and the ability to use data to improve student outcomes.
• Passion for education and a deep belief in the potential of all students to learn and succeed.
• Creative and innovative approach to education, with a willingness to take risks and try new methods.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with students, staff, and the community.
• Commitment to The Pivot School’s mission and vision, and a desire to make a meaningful impact on the lives of students in Aiken.
